Medley Long Releases “Blueprint Toward Affordability” Plan to Ease Burdens on Local Families and Businesses

NFIB-endorsed candidate lays out bold vision to lower costs, cut red tape, and deliver smart results for Beverly and Wenham

Beverly, MA — Small business owner and State Representative candidate Medley Long today unveiled his campaign’s cornerstone policy plan: a six-point Blueprint Toward Affordability aimed at tackling the rising cost of living, supporting local employers, and restoring financial common sense to Beacon Hill.

The plan focuses on lowering energy costs, removing regulatory burdens on small businesses, expanding smart housing options, and prioritizing infrastructure investments that directly benefit working families in Beverly and Wenham.

“Too many people are being priced out of the communities they’ve called home for generations,” said Medley Long. “Affordability is the issue I hear about most — whether it’s skyrocketing utility bills, overregulation, or taxes that keep going up with little to show for it. This blueprint is about real solutions that help people right now — not partisan slogans or endless red tape.”

The release comes just days after Long earned the official endorsement of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) — the country’s leading voice for small businesses.

“As a small business owner and advocate, Medley understands the needs of thousands of Main Street small businesses and the more than one million workers at small businesses in Massachusetts,” said NFIB Massachusetts in its official endorsement.

The Blueprint Toward Affordability includes:

  • Lowering energy costs and opposing costly mandates like the Specialized Stretch Code
  • Cutting red tape for small business owners and streamlining permitting
  • Expanding “missing middle” and workforce housing without overdevelopment
  • Fighting unnecessary tax increases and supporting targeted tax relief
  • Prioritizing local infrastructure like roads, sidewalks, and broadband
  • Demanding transparency and accountability in Beacon Hill spending

“This is what leadership looks like — clear, local, and rooted in real-world experience,” said campaign spokesman Jeff Stinson. “While Medley’s opponent has focused on national ideology, Medley is focused on kitchen-table issues. He’s the only candidate with a plan to make life more affordable here in Beverly and Wenham.”

Long’s campaign has quickly built momentum with strong grassroots support, high fundraising totals, and endorsements from across the business community.
